Who am I?

I am Smiley Eyleigh from the small town of Monticello, GA. I was born prematurely with the right side of my heart underdeveloped and have gone through a number of surgeries that have all failed me in less than two years.. Thankfully my mommy reached out to Boston for a second opinion aside from CHOA and boy were we in for a surprise. We were kept in the dark about a lot of things regarding Eyleigh’s heart and the changes that were happening. However, there was ZERO concern about her being on a “MANDATORY” anticoagulant that she wasn’t even absorbing .. for MONTHS I begged for answers and when I was cornered … I went back to what I knew worked and that was going back to the lovanox shot twice a day and it wasn’t even a week and Eyleigh’s growth and development was totally different . Her appetite changed, she became stronger a lot faster and was able to do things for longer periods of times. We are forever grateful Boston and our insurance accepted our girls transfer on the first try but this is going to be much harder than the first Open Heart Surgery. We KNEW it was coming and she was only one hour from home … this one came as an absolute surprise as her local doctor was not interested in doing any interventions at this time other than to check pressures and back flow on her liver. He also let us know he wrote a letter stating it wasn’t necessary to do surgeries in Boston as the surgeries they can offer will work until double transplant time. That’s what we absolute do not want. Eyleigh’s clotted immediately following all of her procedures at CHOA whether they be invasive or noninvasive. So with another open heart procedure on the horizon 17 hours one way from home we are following God's will completely .. its a bit intense to try and absorb it all to be honest and we have relied solely on our faith to get this HUGE transfer for our girl and we did it!!

Dad is the sole provider as mom works less than part time but both parents will be away from their jobs for an extended period of time for Eyleigh to be able to recover and then safely drive home 17 hours.

Boston Trip Round TWO

Eyleigh received a life saving miracle surgery 8/23/24 that has allowed her underdeveloped ventricle to GROW!! However, just 4 months after the surgery I noticed Eyleighs belly was extended differently and she was bluing more. We get to Boston in hopes to get answers from a sedated MRI that’s been ordered for over half her life to determine brain damage or cerebral palsy… that’s a whole nother rabbit hole to go down. Her MRI was cancelled because her fenest hole is nearly closed and not allowing blood flow to her liver. Her liver is incredibly enlarged, her enzyme levels are through the roof and she’s headed to the Cath Lab for another balloon atrial septostomy and this time they’ll be adding a stent to in hopes prevent this from happening! Eyleigh’s maintained 20 pounds and 30 inches for nearly a year now … praying this surgery will allow her more growth! Prayers most definitely needed as this was completely unexpected!!
